Looking for a way to give back to your university? New to DC and and wanting to meet people? Joining the Texas Exes board is a great way to grow your leadership skills while getting involved with your local community. The Texas Exes is a non-profit organization and the local chapter is a 100% volunteer run group so each and every event that is put on is planned and coordinated by our board. We can't do it alone and would love to have new, fresh faces to help us come up with ideas and lead one of the nation's largest chapters into the next year. All you need to qualify is be a Longhorn and a passion for UT! We have a diverse range of people from all ages, cities and professions currently serving and we gladly welcome anyone who is interested. Please contact dctexasexes@gmail.com for more information.

LBJ Birthday Celebration. Saturday August 22, 11am

Please join the DC Texas Exes & the Texas State Society at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at the LBJ Memorial Grove to celebrate the 107th birthday of President Lyndon Baines Johnson. Our speaker this year will be Bill McSweeny, a Special Assistant to President Johnson and author. Lucinda Robb, granddaughter of President Johnson, will deliver remarks on behalf of the Johnson family. After the ceremony, refreshments will be served Stonewall, Texas style.

Interested in community service? The Texas Exes Washington DC Chapter will be volunteering at Food & Friends on August 22 from 9 a.m. - noon. We will be preparing meals and packing groceries for people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses in the Washington DC area. This is your opportunity to make a difference in our community!

With the end of summer approaching, we are bring back a favorite event series: the DC Texas Exes' Brunches. For August, we will be meeting at El Centro D.F., right off the U Street corridor. Come out and meet your fellow DC Texas Exes in this small group setting. Plan on enjoying the food, drinks, and company on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

A DC Texas Exes Board Member has donated this tour for up to 30 people; now all we need to do is sign up our group and meet up on Sept. 26.  Registration is now closed.

The LBJ School Washington Center, Washington Area LBJ School Alumni Chapter (WALSAC), DC Texas Exes, and The Archer Center are co-hosting an evening at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. for a performance of the Tony Award-winning play All the Way (about President Lyndon Baines Johnson) on April 12, 2016. Tickets are available for the discounted price of $43.50 for LBJ and Texas alumni and friends, and it is our goal to sell out the house! We are joining forces as part of our ongoing efforts to integrate various Texas communities here in DC.
