A member of the 2005 National Champion baseball team, Woodrow Landfair pawned his ring in June of 2006, as well as all his other possessions, leaving on a used motorcycle to complete a novel he had drafted as a Creative Writing student - a story that eight years later would become LAND OF THE FREE (Harbinger, June 10).
